Kikkoman Group’s corporation and a major distributor of Japanese foods, JFC International, Inc. moved their main headquarters from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
The total site area of the new headquarters is 7.9 acres with a storage area of 200,000 sq. ft, equipped with the following four storage units: a chilled dock of (+38F), a Cooler Room (+38 F), Freezer Room (-10 F), and an Ultra Low Temperature Freezer Room (-50 F). A uniform inventory management system was implemented to efficiently receive and ship goods, while using the space efficiently and strengthening traceability.
Yuzaburo Mogi, CEO of Kikkoman International, Inc. and Hiroyuki Enomoto, President of JFC International, Inc. issued a statement outlining their future business policies on which the relocation was based.
“This relocation was based on our new strategy to double our production of soy sauce from 2008 to 2020. As the consumption of soy sauce is declining due to the declining number of children in our population and to our aging population, soy sauce consumption is on the rise overseas due to the ‘Japanese food craze.’ This is why we drafted a plan to build a total of six to seven factories in Asia, North America, Europe, and in South America. In North America, the United States is in a very important position, and we are hoping to have food land in the Long Beach harbor soon to be sent to each region. This is why we left our main office that we had in San Francisco for fifty years, to effectively import and export, to conduct trade efficiently, and to increase sales. This is why we moved.”
The commemoration party was held at the Kyoto Grand Hotel & Garden in Little Tokyo. Approximately 250 guests came to celebrate the completion of the new office, attended by Food-related company and Junichi Ihara (Consul, Consulate General of Japan), Ted Wakao (President, Japanese Camber of Commerce of SC) and Tina Baca Del Rio (Mayor, City of Commerce)
