Volunteer Professionals Serve Sushi at Keiro

JRA of Southern California Sponsors 9th Annual Sushi Luncheon for Keiro Residents

On March 15, Japanese Restaurant Association (JRA) of Southern California brought sushi chefs from various restaurants to prepare authentic sushi lunches for residents in the Koichi and Toyo Nerio Dining Room at Keiro Retirement Home (KRH). While professional chefs skillfully prepared the sushi in front of a resident audience, volunteers artfully arranged the delicacies on ceramic serving sets handcrafted by residents in the KRH ceramics class.

“Sponsoring this luncheon is our chance to show appreciation to the seniors for all they have done for our community,” said Teruo Imaizumi, JRA honorary advisor, who started this event at Keiro when he was president of JRA nine years ago.

“At Keiro, we strive to provide residents with a comfortable and culturally-familiar environment, and we appreciate JRA and other professional groups for volunteering their time, talent, and resources to give residents this special luncheon,” said Takeshi Oishi, administrator of Keiro Retirement Home.
