CARE NEWS

Why
You Can/Should Adopt
National Pet Week was in May and June was National
ADOPT-A-CAT month. The human-animal bond that we share
with our dear pets enriches our lives. Our society
needs to be more aware that millions of dogs and cats,
that could be wonderful pets, die every year in the
pounds just because they did not have a home to live
in. Society is more sensitive about animals but needs
to be more willing to adopt.

Restaurant Review - K-ZO
1/2007
K-ZO
Offers Chic and Delicious Japanese and Continental Cuisine
Hearing
that there was a chic new restaurant that had opened in downtown
Culver City, I hot-footed it over there. With popular restaurants,
parking is always a worry, but K-ZO is located on the first floor
of a building that has a large parking structure, so it was easy
to park the car, something I was grateful for.
Pushing open the
heavy glass door, I was immediately greeted with a thunderous
welcoming chorus. At 7:00 o’clock pm on a Thursday, there was a
huge hubbub of guests seated in the front area. The adjoining bar
counter was already filled with guests and there were others
waiting.

The 7th Annual Japanese
Food Festival was held this past October 29th at the New Otani
Hotel & Garden in Little Tokyo. Naturally, sushi and tempura,
central to Japanese cuisine, were featured, but entertainment
representative of Japanese culture was also presented, including
koto performances, a maguro tuna cutting and preparation
demonstration and a Ryukyu Okinawan dance show.

Sweet Family Fare on Magic Bell !
Be With You, broadcast Sunday nights at 7:00 pm on KXLA, Channel 44 and subtitled in English, is another production of the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), one of the six major networks in Japan. It took a best selling novel written by Ichikawa Takuji, “Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu” (“Now We Go To Meet”), which was just made into a hit movie a couple of years ago, and remade it as a 10-part series. That shows just how popular the story was in Japan. On the TBS website (http://www.tbs.co.jp/ima-ai/scene.html)

How to Start a Restaurant in LA County
Having worked as the Business Counselor in the Japanese and Japanese American communities, for almost 7 years, I’ve assisted many merchants and entrepreneurs over the years. I must say, of all the various industries of businesses here in Little Tokyo, the majority that I have helped have been restaurants. |
