Deep-Fried Tofu Marinated in Vinegar

Ingredients

  • 1 cake momen tofu
  • Wheat flour
  • Oil for deep-frying
  • 1/4 purple onion
  • 1 red chili pepper

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

Direction

  1. Wrap the tofu in a dry cloth and press it with a weight to drain. Cut it in half and then into three parts horizontally.
  2. Cut the purple onion into thin slices. Seed the red chili pepper and cut it into thin round slices.
  3. Combine the marinade ingredients, the onion and the chili pepper in a large flat container, and mix briefly to make a sauce.
  4. Preheat the oil to 330 F. Slice the tofu into it. When it comes to the surface, deep-fry it over high heat for about 10 minutes until it is golden brown and crisp.
  5. While the tofu is still hot, drop it into the marinade, and marinate it for 30 to 40 minutes. Garnish with the purple onion and coriander and serve.
