Maifun with Creme Sauce
Serves 4
*A variety of other noodles can be used.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. (225 g) pork loin, sliced thin

Marinade for pork:

  • 1 T cornstarch

  • 1 egg

  • 2 t sesame seed oil

  • 1/2 t white pepper

  • 1 T seasoning sauce

  • 2 T oil

  • 1/2 lb. (225 g.) maifun

  • 2 T sweet soy sauce

  • 2 T oil

  • 1 T crushed garlic

  • 1 c water

  • 3 T fish sauce

  • 2 T sugar

  • 2 T cornstarch dissolved in small amount of water

  • 1 c broccoli flowerets

  • 1/2 c sliced carrots

  • 1/4 c sliced red peppers

  • 1/2 c fresh pea pods

  • 1/4 c straw mushrooms

  • 1 green onion, cut into 1 in. (2.5 cm.) length

  • Garnish: Cilantro

Procedure:

  • Marinate pork for 10 minutes.
  • Soak noodles in warm water until soft. (Approx. 10 minutes)
  • Heat pan, add 2 T oil and stir fry noodles adding sweet soy sauce.
  • Thoroughly mix.
  • Remove and set aside.
  • Heat pan, add 2 more T oil, garlic, water, fish sauce and sugar.
  • Add pork and bring mixture to a boil.
  • Add enough cornstarch mixture to form a medium thick sauce.
  • Add all remaining ingredients and return mixture to a boil cooking for 3 more minutes.
  • Pour mixture over noodles and serve.
