REFLECTING ON 2006

As 2006 draws to a close, I find myself thinking back on a year that literally flew by. It went so fast. Then I think about all the plans that I had, the resolutions that were long forgotten by March, and the things I wanted to accomplish in ’06.  Some I (thankfully) accomplished, some I didn’t.  But that’s ok, because I have another year to try again.

If you are like me, and didn’t get to some of your pet projects, or meet all of your goals, it’s OK. We can start again in ’07.  Whether you want to learn how to start a business, be better at saving money (for retirement, college, or business endeavor), or take that class at the local community college to learn another language or skill, take that first baby step and do it.  Sign up for the class. Register for the course.  Get a book from the library and start learning about the topic.

I want to end the year by applauding the students who signed up for my e-commerce workshop (see last month’s article).  It was a packed class.  I even had to turn away over a dozen people.  Because of its popularity, the Little Tokyo Service Center will be offering the workshop again.  So, start the new year with this FREE workshop.  Class size is limited to 20 this time.  The details are below.

E-Commerce and How to Market Your Business on the Internet

Time: both dates 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Location: Little Tokyo Service Center
Address: 231 East 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Topics: introduction to the internet, basics of website design, having a website and the fees involved, how to drive more business to your site, pros and cons of doing business on the web.

Requirements: All attendees should be able to send and receive e-mail messages, know how to go on-line, have a business idea (product or service) to offer on their website.  Attendees should also commit to coming for BOTH sessions.

Cost: Free of Charge

Sponsors: Citibank, Little Tokyo Service Center, Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program, Small Business Administration

RSVP:  Call me at 213-473-1658 or e-mail me at nkikuchi@LTSC.org.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2007

I’m still preparing my list of goals for next year.  I’m making sure I’m writing them down – just like I tell my clients – to put their business plans in writing.  I’ll have the list somewhere where it’ll be visible to me daily (like on the refrigerator or the bathroom mirror).  I won’t make them too hard to attain (because I want some level of success), but I‘ll have some goals that will challenge me, too.  I want to learn something completely new, and I want to have some fun goals too, like watching a movie every month.  I don’t want my list to be too boring and serious.  Hopefully, with this mix of various types of goals, I should have a fun, yet stimulating year.  Good luck with your list!

Finally,

To all the readers of Sushi and Sake Magazine –

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Here’s to a prosperous and enterprising 2007.
